We’re in the news!

The Santa Cruz Sentinel ran a front page story on the arrival of our Mustang foals from South Dakota. They all have arrived safe and sound. April LaMea, Lakota, Titan and Narico are enjoying the California sunshine. Napping and soaking up the warmth, they seem to be saying, “Nice digs; hope we can stay a while!” A big thank you goes out to each sponsor. While enjoying the right to name their foal, they also help provide for their upkeep. They will all be ready for adoption fairly soon!

Little Miss April LaMea has won everyone's heart who has met her. She is a sweet little Palamino Mustang filly, who is very friendly and outgoing. She has been adopted into a loving home!

This is Lakota, a 6 month old Mustang colt. He is a little furball, very cute and sweet. He's a little nervous about all these new people around him, but is warming up to everyone and will be ready for adoption soon! Update: With lots of love and patience, Lakota has become a friendly, loving little guy. He is currently available for adoption!

Introducing Titan! Titan is a 6 month old Mustang colt. He is so cute, and so friendly! He loves to be petted and loved on. It's easy, because he is very loveable! He is currenlty available for adoption!

Last, but certainly NOT least, is Narico. She is a gorgeous little Mustang filly, who is very much in charge of the ranch (at least in her book!) She is a smart girl, with beautiful conformation. Narico has been lovingly adopted by the family who sponsored her!

A great way to help...

Speaking of Sponsorship…If you are interested in helping one of our equines, sponsorship is a great way to make a difference in a horse’s life. Any horse available for adoption or in rehabilitation is available to sponsor. You can donate as little as $20.00 a month to help the equine of your choice. We’ll send you pics and keep you updated as they make progress getting ready for adoption. Our newest sponsor is helping out “Apache”. She has been renamed “Angelina Jolie”. Her new sponsor thought it was a perfect name, as this sweet pregnant mare has taken on the role of foster mom for all our foals in her pasture. Our resident “foster mom”, Rosie, is quite happy to share her duties with Angelina. Our little ones are well loved, by their equine foster moms, and all of our wonderful volunteers. Send an email to us if you’re interested in helping an equine here at PMR.

Mark your calendars!!!

A Big Fundraiser is scheduled for May 17, 2008, so mark your calendars! This promises to be a very fun event. Pregnant Mare Rescue has found a gorgeous 13 acre home that has graciously agreed to be the site of our next fundraiser, right here in La Selva Beach! We have secured the location, some of the yummy foods to be served, and possibly a band. We will also be holding a silent auction. Now is the time to ask if you know of anyone who might donate an item for the auction. This is a great way to help equines in need! Concert Tickets, dinners out, Spa Packages, a special get-away. Own a beach house? How about donating a weekend stay? This promises to be a great day, and a great way to raise funds for our horses!

FIRST Foster Ranch!

I am thrilled to announce our first foster ranch is in place and in operation. Welcome Karie Harjo to Pregnant Mare Rescue! By providing her skills as an experienced horsewoman, her facility to board and care for up to 4 horses, and the donation of her time to care and train our rescues, Karie is giving an unbelievable gift! Located in Madera, Calif, Karie presently is caring for 2 of PMR’s equines. This enables us to increase the number of equines we rescue and care for, as our funds will allow! This has been a goal of mine since our inception, and it is so magical to see it happening. Thank You Karie. and Welcome!

We're growing and changing...

Please be on the lookout for our new website. As we move forward in 2008 and embrace our new growth, we are putting together plans for a foaling barn, the development of our back 2 acres and our new website look. It’s going to be a great year, and we are looking forward to saving lots of lives. Lets all hope this is the year that necessary changes are made, and the transporting of our American horses to slaughter across our borders comes to an end.

Have a wonderful and eventful Spring Season, and Live with Great Intention!

Best,
Lynn Hummer
