Happy Holidays 2007

Lots going on & we sure could use your help!

We currently have 6 new horses arriving!
2 from the Nevada feedlot and 4 from South Dakota.
WE NEED DONATIONS!!!
PLEASE help us save the lives of these beautiful animals.

Nevada and her baby boy Patriot are scheduled to arrive early next week from the Nevada feedlot. We have received a generous donation from Jennifer G. in Texas that made their rescue possible. We have forwarded the funds onto NorCal Equine rescue who will be picking them up and getting them to us. A big thank you to Jennifer for saving their lives!!

Nevada and her baby boy Patriot Nevada
We are also trying to save 4 babies from the Virginia herd in South Dakota. They have lost their land to the BLM. This herd of 300 are in need of homes or their lives are at great risk. They will be sent to slaughter. These horses are the pure descendants from original Native American Tribes. They deserve to cherished and celebrated, not sent to slaughter! PMR is trying to raise funds to take four weanlings, 2 fillies and 2 colts. It is a long journey from Lantry, South Dakota to Sunny Calif. and an expensive one. We need to raise $2000. to haul them here. For a 1 time $100.00 Sponsorship Donation you can have the honor of naming one of the arriving foals. We'll send you a sponsorship certificate and a photograph of the filly or colt you have named! We also include our latest DVD. Presently South Dakota is experiencing 50 mile-an-hour winds! Let's get those babies outta there!
These images are of some of the foals from that herd. Please take a look and fall in love.

~Introducing~
Tucker and Fancy (a.k.a. Miss Fancy Pants)
Boy am I glad Lynn is my new Mom, thank you to everyone that helped save me!Thank you Darla from the both of us for making this happen.

Tucker was Lynn's birthday present. Talk about the surprise of a lifetime! Lynn has never owner her own riding horse. She has been too busy rescuing those in need to take time to find a riding horse. Her husband, and all the volunteers pooled money and found..what else??…a gorgeous little rescue. He is a Sheldon Mustang! Lynn is surprised and ecstatic and grateful.

Fancy (aka Miss Fancy Pants) also arrived Monday 11/27. Both are Sheldon Mustangs from the Strawberry Mustang Rescue located in Roseburg, Oregon. Fancy is currently being evaluated by the Pregnant Mare Rescue Staff. She is a beautiful 4 year old mare, with a flaxen mane and tail. Her conformation is very nice and her feet are stunning, those mustang hooves! Have you been dreaming of owning your very own Mustang, a piece of America's Heritage? Now's the time! A big Thank you goes out to Darla, the Founder of Strawberry Mountain Mustangs for her research, suggestions and the horses!

*~*~*We need Sponsors for Rose!*~*~*
Yep, sure do love to hug! Thank you for all you've done to save me and my babe Roxy. I don't know what we would do without you...
"Rose is a Wonderful Hugger"

We have one lovely person committing to help out on a monthly basis. Can anyone else pitch in? Rose (aka Wose) is our first rescue, and as it turns out has an extremely important job! Rose is the sweetest horse at PMR, everyone loves her! Rose is everybody's mommy at the rescue. When our new orphaned babies arrive, they are scared, confused, and very upset. Many of them are in their first 24 hours away from their own moms. Some are weaned too soon, others were forced weaned and their moms sent off to slaughter. Rose moves through them, licking, comforting and nibbling on their necks. Within hours they've settled down and begin munching on fresh grass hay. Rose works her magic ever so slowly and ever so methodically. She is irreplaceable at our rescue!

We are not sure of Rose's age. She was first evaluated as being only 3 or 4. Now we've been told she may be 6-8 yrs old. Pregnant when she arrived, saved from the horrible fate of slaughter, she delivered a beautiful coal black filly. We all fell in love and Lynns' daughter Jillian was given the honor of naming the baby girl "Roxy". We are not sure why Rose moves as slow as she does, head always down, always very slow. We are going down the list trying to determine what the cause could be, neurological, hoof related, leg issues etc. The vet believes she may have a case of Laminitis, (the pedal bone is rotated and pressing on the sole of her foot). And so, as we continue to evaluate Rose, and try our best to be certain she isn't experiencing any pain, we continue to provide for her……We desperately need sponsors for her, she will need x-rays and lots of care in the future. Any amount is great! Donations can be One time or once a month!

PLEASE HELP ROSE!!!

***The Minis are Out!!!!***
This place is so cool :)Yep, i really lik it here at Pregnant Mare Rescue
As the community outreach branch of this rescue, PMR is planning to journey out to retirement homes with the Minis! We hope to spread joy across the community during this wonderful holiday season. Many people do not have the ability to be around the animals that they love, so the animals are going to them. We hope that Joey and Minnie will spread their holiday joy to all! We would love it if you could sponsor Joe and Minnie!!! We need help paying for the basic needs: food, hoof care and health care. We are keeping these two little ones as our mascots to spread joy to the community. The minis will have many events planned for them in the future, so keep an eye out.
Ho Ho Ho

A Special Thank You to Lorrie M. and Sandy B. for being the best Santa's ever! They each purchased for PMR much needed Pipe Panels! What a fabulous donation!

We feel very privileged here at Pregnant Mare Rescue. We are excited to be part of something that is making a difference in the lives of these majestic animals. It begins as a small project to help out at the ranch, and ends up a small personal journey for each and every one of us. Horses mentor the human spirit. They make us forget our troubles and help us remember how wonderful it is just to be. They bring out the best in everyone, and continually open our eyes and hearts to the magic of caring and giving and love. We wish all of you a heartfelt and wondrous holiday season. Come and see us, the babies will enchant you!

Happy Holidays from all of us!
