Meet The August 2007 Rescues!

This Tikota. He and his mama Stella were rescued off the Fallon, Nevada feedlot in August 2007. He is a sweet boy, who was very shy and scared of people when he first arrived at Pregnant Mare Rescue. Thanks to the loving patience of volunteers, he soon learned to trust people again.

Tikota and his Mama Stella. Unfortunately, Stella arrived at Pregnant Mare Rescue with a devastating leg injury, which probably occurred on the feedlot. She was in great pain, but was a wonderful mom to Tikota right up until the end. She was humanely euthanized in order to prevent her from suffering any more pain.

Rest in Peace, Stella. We will always love and miss you.

This is "Jillian's Little Miss Daisy May"...or just Daisy for short. She is a Quarter Horse/Arab cross who was rescued off a Fallon, Nevada feedlot in August of 2007. She has been adopted by her new family, who couldn't love her more. She is a smart, funny, sometimes naughty girl who is full of life and spunk. Her family is so grateful to Lynn and PMR for saving their new baby!

This is Lena, Daisy May's mama. She was rescued, along with her baby, off the feedlot. As you can see in her "before" photo (below) she got much healthier and happier at Pregnant Mare Rescue. Lena has been adopted into a loving home, and is now living happily with a new horsey friend.

Lena, shortly after arriving at Pregnant Mare Rescue. She was finally learning to trust humans, but was still a sad girl...

This is Shilah and her baby Ty on the feedlot in Fallon, Nevada.  They were on their way to slaughter, when they were rescued.  They were with a group of mamas and babies that were sold to slaughter by a prestigious Quarter Horse breeding ranch in Texas.  Unfortunately too many horses are considered expendable by the humans they are dependent on for their care.  Luckily these two were saved in time.

This is Shilah today, after lots of TLC from her new adoptive mom.  She can now spend the rest of her life knowing she is very well loved, and will always be taken care of.

This is baby Ty with his mama Shilah, not long after arriving at Pregnant Mare Rescue.  Ty was quite a mischevious little boy, who everyone fell in love with right away.  He has been adopted by a loving family who is having a wonderful time watching this boy grow and mature into a beautiful horse.  Babies, especially, should never know the horror of the feedlot, the slaughter truck, and the slaughter house.
